"Even in a kiss there are things said, offers made and accepted or rejected, and in the simplest sex scene there are all the elements of high drama: struggle and surrender, negotiation, character revelation, surprise, triumph and loss, love and betrayal."

...from an interview with Dr. Mabeuse
by author Ann Vremont.

WELCOME

Open the rusted metal door and enter the laboratory of Dr. Elliot Mabeuse. You find yourself in a maze of dimly lit stairs and dark corridors. Light seeps from beneath some doors, others are closed and silent. Some are locked, and some are open, giving you a fleeting glimpse of what's inside. Others hang ominously ajar, as if waiting.

From the corridor you can hear voices, but the words are indistinct—the whispering of men, the murmuring of women. There are cries and gasps and sounds that raise the hackles on your neck—are they cries of pleasure? And what sort of pleasure locks itself away like this? What is it that turns love into something that must be hidden and even feared? And what makes that fear so delicious?

The answers are waiting for you in the Cabinet where the journals are kept—stories of extreme emotion and transcendent passion, records of the Doctor’s studies in that place where the light fades out and the darkness begins.

Not all of us want to see what he found in the darkness. But for those who do, the Cabinet is open.
